On November 9-12, 2016, the Consortium, in collaboration with the National Chengchi University, the Taiwan Association of Southeast Asian Studies, the International Program for Collaborative Research of the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Kyoto University, and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Kyoto University, organized the inaugural Asian Conference for Young Scholars of Southeast Asian Studies. The theme of the conference was “Democratization, Regionalization and Globalization in Southeast Asia.” The conference gave young scholars nominated by Consortium member institutions the chance to gather together at the Institute of International Studies of the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan and engage in free and open discussion about their research. The conference also seeks to promote networking among young scholars affiliated with the consortium member
institutions.
