SEASIA Co-Organizes Opening Forum of 24th Annual Conference on Southeast Asian Studies in Taiwan

The 24th Annual Conference on Southeast Asian Studies in Taiwan will be held on November 7 and 8, 2024, at the Academia Sinica in Taipei. The theme of the this year’s conference is “Perspectives and Methodologies of Area Studies: Reviews and Prospects of Taiwan’s Southeast Asian Studies.”
The SEASIA consortium is co-organizer of the Opening Forum on November 7. The theme of the Opening Forum is “Prospect and Retrospect of 30 Years of Southeast Asian Studies in Taiwan and Beyond,” and features SEASIA member representatives Prof. Antoinette Raquiza of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, Dr. Norshahril Saat of the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute, Prof. Mieno Fumiharu of Kyoto University, and Prof. Alan Hao Yang of the National Chengchi University. The forum is moderated by Prof. Hsin-huang Michael Hsiao, Chair of the Taiwan-Asia Exchange Foundation and Chair of SEASIA. Drs. Raquiza, Mieno, and Yang are also members of SEASIA’s Governing Board. They will be discussing the state of Southeast Asian studies in their respective countries and in Asia, and will exchange views on initiatives to strengthen Southeast Asian studies, networking, and collaboration in the region.
