The Korea-Japan Conference of Southeast Asian Studies 2024

The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies at Jeonbuk National University is organizing the Korea-Japan Conference of Southeast Asian Studies 2024 in collaboration with the Korean Association of Southeast Asian Studies (KASEAS). The theme, “Searching for Southeast Asian Powers and Wisdom in the Turmoil World,” promises to be a thought-provoking exploration. The conference will be held at Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea, from August 30 to September 1, 2024.

This conference, which began as an academic exchange between KASEAS, JISEAS and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Kyoto University (CSEAS), has evolved into an extensive venue for scholarly exchanges. With the participation of more institutions from both countries, it has grown into a dynamic and progressive academic space. This year, we are delighted to have the Japan Society for Southeast Asian Studies (JSSEAS) as one of the hosting organizations.

The conference brings together senior and junior researchers from both countries and pairs scholars across countries and generations to promote exchanging ideas, perspectives, and insights between the academic communities.
