Basic Info on Kyoto: Transportation & Accommodation

TRANSPORTATION

From Kansai International Airport (Osaka), you can reach Kyoto by means of shuttle minivan, airport bus, limited express train Haruka, and other private train lines.

For airport bus to Kyoto, please see: Airport Limousine Bus (fare: 2,550 yen)

For Haruka train to Kyoto, you can use: Kansai Area Pass (1 day fare: 2,060 yen)

For shuttle minivan companies, please make the reservation at least 3 days prior your departure with MK Taxi (fare: 3,600 yen) or Yasaka Taxi (fare: 3,500 yen)

 ACCOMMODATION

It is recommended to book your accommodation as early as possible since Kyoto is a major tourist destination in Japan. Please note that hotels in Japan charge customers based on head-count.

We recommend to book accommodation nearby the conference venue, Kyoto International Conference Center, or located along the subway track (Karasuma line).

FOOD

Inside of Kyoto University there are a number of campus cafeterias and restaurants that are open for anyone. Meals (either for lunch or dinner) usually cost around 400-900 yen, depending on your own choice.

1. Rune cafeteria.

Opening hours: Weekday: 11.00-22.00; Saturday: 11.00-19.30; Sunday: 11.00-14.00

Halal food is available in this Rune cafeteria.

2. Central cafeteria.

Opening hours: Weekday: 8.00-21.00

3. Italian restaurant Camphora.

Opening hours: Weekday: 9.00- 22.00; Weekend: 11.00 – 15.00

4. French restaurant La Tour.

Opening hours: Daily: 11.00-15.00; 17.00-22.00
