Call for a Research Professor: Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, Busan University of Foreign Studies (ISEAS/BUFS)

Institute for Southeast Asian Studies at Busan University of Foreign Studies (ISEAS/BUFS), Busan, South Korea, is looking for a motivated and dedicated faculty member who can contribute to our research agenda.

ISEAS/BUFS was established in 1997 at the Busan University of Foreign Studies, Busan, South Korea. Since 2009, the ISEAS/BUFS has been conducting a 10 years research project sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea. The agenda of the research project is “*The Recognition and Construction of Southeast Asia as a Whole: Building Southeast Asian Studies on Compounding Area Studies and Cultural Studies*”. The ISEAS/BUFS has entered into the third phase of the research project (September 2015 –
August 2019). The main research topic of the phase is “*Revisiting and Reconstructing Southeast Asian Characteristics and Methodological Quests for Southeast Asian Studies*”. (For more information, please refer to the ‘Attachment (ISEAS/BUFS Leaflet)’.


*1. Position Title*: HK Research Professor


*2. Working Conditions*

    1) Non-Tenure Track

    2) Expected to begin working in December 2016

    3) Salary:

        – Basic Annual Salary: *31,350,000 KRW*
        (Inc. Housing Allowance, National Health Insurance)

        – Honorarium for teaching will be paid separately

        – The successful overseas candidate will be offered one way airfare.

    4) Period of Employment: 12 months
        (May be extended annually subject to merit evaluation)

    5) The successful candidate is required to publish at least
        an article annually in international journals (SCOPUS, SSCI or A&HCI).


*3. Eligibility*

    1) Candidates MUST have a Ph.D. degree in Southeast Asian Studies
        (Cultural Studies, the Arts, History, Anthropology, Sociology, Religion,
        Literature, and Tourism)

    2) Good at written and spoken English

    3) Excellent socializing skills and committed attitude
